The training was held on two consecutive Saturdays and participants were provided a certificate upon completion.

The courses that were covered in the training are approved by the California Department of Public Health.

They included: Infection Prevention and Control; Introduction to Homecare; Privacy, Ethics and Personal Rights; and Caregiver First Aid.

Training facilitators assisted participants through the extensive course curriculum by highlighting the most significant content and discussing their own personal experiences.

“This training is a great opportunity. So many people miss out on needed skills training because of the cost, distance, timing, or a lack of steady transportation,” stated Benjamin Bledsoe, Social Enterprise Manager at Catholic Charities. “This training is a first step for participants to work in the home care industry, which can lead to future advancement in the field.”

In addition to the training in Indio, Catholic Charities hopes to expand Personal Care Aide Employment Trainings throughout San Bernardino and Riverside counties in the near future.
