In addition to the eleven men who will be ordained to the permanent diaconate, two seminarians will also be ordained to the transitional diaconate at the Aug. 27 Ordination Mass at St. James the Less, Perris.

The transitional diaconate is the last step that seminarians take before Ordination to the priesthood. Ordaining permanent and transitional deacons at the same time is rarely done in our Diocese.

The two men who will be ordained to be transitional deacons are Carlos Flores and Julian Plascencia.

“What inspired me to the priesthood was the idea of service and gratitude that comes from serving as a priest. It is to give oneself to the service of others in gratitude to God for all his blessings,” said Flores, who comes from Sacred Heart Parish in Riverside.

Please keep Flores and Plascencia in your prayers as they complete this next step in their priestly journey.
