During the Advent and Christmas seasons, the generous love of our volunteers shines even more brightly. Many food pantries are transformed into places of deep charity and heartfelt celebration. Families sign up to receive Christmas gifts for their children, and individuals experiencing homelessness are invited to share their Christmas wishes, simple hopes that, through the kindness of volunteers, become moments of joy and dignity.
Across the diocese, parish teams come together with remarkable creativity to bring the light of Christ into the lives of those who are struggling. From gift-giving programs to warm meals, from decorated pantries to heartfelt outreach, volunteers make it possible for many to experience the tenderness, warmth, and hope of the Christmas season.
- From Nov. 30- Dec. 21, St. Matthew Church, Corona, coordinated a Faith Formation Socks & Toiletries drive. This drive supports the local needy who come into the parish office seeking help with general hygiene or cold weather items.
- From Dec. 6-21, St. Anthony Church, Upland, coordinated a Christmas Toy Drive. This toy drive was partnered with Mary’s Mercy Center in San Bernardino.
- On Nov. 24, Holy Spirit Church, Hemet, confirmation students made 31 blankets for the homeless ministry, so that they may be given to their homeless brothers and sisters. They wrote Christmas cards to go with each one.
- On Dec. 13, the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Mecca, hosted a free medical clinic. The clinic offered several free services like haircuts, Christmas presents for children, primary care, clothing, groceries, and mental health care.
- From Dec. 13- 14, The Holy Name of Jesus Church, Redlands, coordinated a food drive for those in need in the parish and local community.
- From Sept. 20- Dec. 13, St. Anne in the Mountains, Running Springs, coordinated Operation Silver Star, a collection drive of socks, slippers, mittens, hats, scarfs and lap blankets to help keep seniors in the community warm in the winter season.
- On November 16, 2025, as the Church observed the World Day of the Poor, the Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV reminded us that “Amid life’s trials, our hope is inspired by the firm and reassuring certainty of God’s love, poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit.” This profound truth beautifully reflects the spirit that guides every volunteer who serves in our food pantries and parish outreach ministries. Their work is more than service; it is a living testimony of God’s love at work in our communities.
Each volunteer shares their gifts with a generosity that can only be inspired by the Holy Spirit. Their compassion, consistency, and joy reveal the heart of Christ, who calls us to be His hands and feet in the world. Day after day, they respond to the needs of our brothers and sisters with courage, humility, and unwavering hope.
To all our volunteers: thank you.
Thank you for seeing Christ in every person you serve.
Thank you for your compassion, your time, and your steadfast presence.
Thank you for being bearers of hope in a world that needs it now more than ever.
May the Lord bless you abundantly for the love you so freely give, and may you continue to be strengthened by the Holy Spirit, whose grace inspires every act of service you offer.
