“We are delighted that the response from the local and parish communities has been so positive,” said Principal Annette Zaleski. “Our Early Admissions Incentive has been well-received, and our founding students will begin making an impact for generations to come through planning sessions called ‘Living Stones’ in January 2018.”
“Living Stones” is a term Saint Jeanne used in an address delivered to founding members of the Order of the Sisters of the Company of Mary.
“Saint Jeanne referred to those early members of the Order as “living stones” laying a foundation for those yet to come in bringing about the Kingdom of God,” explained Sister Ernestine Velarde, ODN, President of St. Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School.
The high school will be an extension of the 25 years of excellent Catholic education already in place at Saint Jeanne Catholic School, serving preschool through eighth grade students. Classes will take place in traditional classrooms and creative learning spaces utilizing the existing campus.
“We are blessed to have a campus with a 700-seat theater, full indoor gym, and more than ample playing fields,” says Zaleski, “Most new high schools have to phase those buildings in the development plan. Our students begin Day 1 with those amenities.”
The new high school building, to include a chapel, culinary teaching kitchen, art studios, science labs, and classrooms with outdoor patios, will be constructed on site once the goals of the capital campaign are met.
Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic High School will also feature educational and co-curricular programming for the next generation of leaders. Students will have the advantage of making global connections as a part of the Company of Mary International Network by participating in travel and mission programs throughout the world. Practical experience and career exploration awaits Juniors as they are paired with vetted professionals in their chosen area of interest.
In this way, students understand the requirements of a profession before investing in a higher education. Nationally acclaimed Project Lead the Way will be the stronghold of the science program offering pathways in Computer Science (adopted in 2018), Engineering and Biomedical fields of study along with traditional offerings. Smaller class sizes allow for personalized education and attention that benefit individual student growth.
The budding Mustang Nation will offer all the conventional aspects of high school students that look forward to – sports, clubs, dances, spirit rallies, service organizations. “We are excited to build a tremendous sports program featuring the giftedness and leadership qualities of our athletes that will rival all the great Catholic schools while representing the Catholic traditions and unique qualities of the Saint Jeanne community.”
It is not too late to apply for Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic High School. The Regular Admissions Deadline is January 19, 2018. Students who apply and pay the admissions and registration fee by 3 p.m. on January 19th will be able to take advantage of the $1,000 tuition discount per high school year and a locked in tuition rate. Students registering by the Regular Admissions Deadline will also be a part of the first “Living Stones” planning meeting and dinner for founding students on January 29th.
