PALM DESERT—Students from Sacred Heart School in Palm Desert showed their care for others by collecting and donating 30,000 diapers to Birth Choice of the Desert on Nov. 1.
The school held a competition to see which class could contribute the most. Organizers say they more than doubled their goal.
“Students at Sacred Heart learn so much in serving those in need. They develop empathy for others while realizing the positive impact they can have on their community,” said Jeanine LeBeau, the Outreach Coordinator for Sacred Heart School.
Birth Choice Centers is a non-profit organization with centers in Palm Desert, Hemet and Temecula. The centers offer support to people facing pregnancy, parenting and reproductive health concerns. They provide free services such as pregnancy testing, client care coaches and state-of-the-art ultrasounds to women. Since Birth Choice Centers is not income based, the centers have an ongoing need for material assistance for their clients, including diapers and wipes.
Christina Gonzalez, Birth Choice of the Desert Center Director, said the centers help parents, legal guardians and foster parents with children 0-24 months of age. “Raising and caring for children can be challenging and Birth Choice is here to offer support and cover them with a lot of prayer and care,” she said.
