On March 25, the Solemnity of the Annunciation, Pope Francis and bishops and priests across the world prayed a special Act of Consecration to entrust humanity, and in a special way Russia and Ukraine, to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. In the Diocese of San Bernardino, Bishop Alberto Rojas and Auxiliary Bishop Emeritus Rutilio del Riego led the Act of Consecration at the Diocesan Pastoral Center (DPC).
The Act of Consecration was livestreamed on YouTube for those who could not be present. Other consecration prayers also took place that day across the Diocese’s various parishes and schools. (The Act of Consecration can be prayed individually or within a family or community, and it can be prayed more than once.)
“The Act of Consecration is meant to be a gesture of the Universal Church, which in this dramatic moment lifts up to God, through his Mother and ours, the cry of pain of all those who suffer and implore an end to violence, and to entrust the future of our human family to the Queen of Peace,” wrote Pope Francis in a letter to the bishops of the world.
