On Feb. 23, The Diocesan Pastoral Center (DPC) Chapel bore witness to the great generosity of the Knights of Columbus. The Knights have gifted the DPC with a new Pilgrim Icon of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (LEFT), one of 300 in the world bearing the apostolic blessing of Pope Francis. The Knights also sponsored a visitation of relics of the six Martyrs of the Mexican Revolution (RIGHT) of the early 20th Century, allowing DPC employees and visitors an opportunity for veneration. The martyrs are St. Luis Batis Sainz, St. Rodrigo Aguilar Aleman, St. Miguel de la Mora, St. Pedro de Jesus Maldonado Lucero, St. Jose Maria Robles Hurtado and St. Mateo Correa Magallanes. The saints were killed during the Cristero War (1926-1929), resisting the government’s ban on the Catholic Church and public worship. The reliquary contains bone chips of these martyrs and is often used in special veneration tours to promote faith and religious freedom. Thank you again to our Knights of Columbus for their unwavering spirit of service and generosity.Â
