“We are so proud of Mrs. Melendez and all that she and her family have accomplished,” said Camille Lara, St. James Catholic School principal. “As an elected official in Sacramento, she is living out the very principles our school stands for – faith-filled Catholic, creative and expressive individual, life-long learner, responsible citizen – she is a terrific example for her children and all of our students.”

Residents of Lake Elsinore, the Melendez family has attended St. James Catholic School for the past nine years and currently has children in grades one, two, four, seven and eight.

“Our faith is very important to us and we believe St. James gives our children the best education and religious foundation necessary to help them grow and make the right decisions in life,” said Assemblywoman Melendez. “I am proud to be a part of the St. James community.”

Melendez is a ten-year veteran of the United States Navy and is a small business owner. Prior to her election to Assembly, she served on the City Council in Lake Elsinore.
