The diocese joined the Universal Church in celebrating the Nov. 2 Jubilee of the World of Education, intended to honor the global educational community, at Our Lady of The Rosary Cathedral in San Bernardino. Bishop Alberto Rojas led the faithful in Vespers, an evening prayer, and Eucharistic Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. On this night of prayer, the faithful gave thanks for teachers who dedicate their lives to shaping minds and hearts, for students seeking wisdom, and for families who nurture learning and faith. Among those present were teachers, faculty, students and families from Catholic schools in the diocese, the University of California, Riverside, Newman Center, public schools, and diocesan seminarians, who also sang in the choir. After the readings, Bishop Rojas thanked those present for coming to give thanks and spoke on the importance that Catholic schools hold in forming the whole child in faith and academics.
