The diocese joins the school communities of St. Edward, Corona and St. Adelaide, Highland in mourning the loss of two beloved Catholic educators who served them.
St. Edward announced that former principal Leilani Lister was called to eternal rest on Feb. 4.
“Principal Lister was a pillar of St. Edward School and the Corona community, serving as a teacher and then Principal from 1984-2017,” a social media post from the school read. “She led with a commitment to living our faith, academic excellence, compassion, and innovation. Her love and dedication to our students and staff left an indelible mark. She will be profoundly missed. Please join us in keeping Principal Lister’s family in your prayers during this incredibly difficult time.”
St. Adelaide School announced that current fifth grade teacher Jay Husfloen passed away on February 22.
“‘Mr. H.,’ as he was lovingly known, dedicated 25 years to teaching, including 20 wonderful years at St. Adelaide,” the school wrote on social media. “This is a tremendous loss for our community, as Mr. H. was truly a pillar of our school family, and his presence on our campus will be profoundly missed. His care, kindness, and warm personality made a lasting impact on students, parents, and colleagues alike. His legacy will certainly live on in the hearts of those whose lives he touched, especially the countless students he guided and inspired. Our strong Catholic community will continue to keep Mr. H. and his family in our prayers.”
