To celebrate Earth Day, several Catholic schools in the diocese participated in fun activities that taught students how they can be good stewards of the earth’s resources. Seventh grade students of Our Lady of the Assumption School in San Bernardino guided the elementary students in meaningful Earth Day art projects. The first and fifth grade classes at St. Catherine of Siena School in Rialto participated in a fun Earth Day buddy scavenger hunt. St. Jeanne de Lestonnac School in Temecula and St. Theresa School in Palm Springs engaged in more hands-on activities. Preschool students at the Temecula school participated in activities focused on caring for animals, recycling and making good choices for the planet. The Palm Springs school held a weeklong Earth Day recognition that included a bottle and can recycling drive, planting seeds, school trash clean up, and an ecology presentation where students learned about environmental impacts and what they could do to make a difference.
