In beloved annual tradition, San Bernardino Aquinas High School and Riverside Notre Dame High School squared off in the “Holy Wars” athletic competitions on Sept. 19. This year’s “Holy Wars,” a day-long series of competitions took place at Notre Dame and nearby Ramona High School in Riverside. The battles began at 9 am at Ramona with the opening prayer on the field and were followed by the cross-country race, girls’ tennis match, girls’ flag football, and the freshman volleyball game. The afternoon competitions were boys’ water polo, junior varsity volleyball, and varsity volleyball. In between games, guests were welcomed to enjoy music, games, food, merchandise and more. Towards the end of the day, a special Mass was celebrated in the gym at Notre Dame. The competitions were capped off with the storied varsity football matchup, which Aquinas won 28-0.
