As the student body and the parishioners stood, the Mass held a special meaning as it honored our veterans and all those serving around the world in the military. For within our small school community mothers, fathers, grandparents, relatives, friends, and family members had served with honor and shared a special bond of courage, commitment and love for their country.

As the Mass came to a close a moment of silence was recognized for those veterans who are no longer with us. You could hear the sounds of “Taps”...a melody of 24 notes that not only stirs emotions of hope, peace, grief and rest, but of memories that will stay in our hearts and minds forever.

The veterans formed a semi-circle in front of the churches allowing parishioners and students the opportunity to thank a veteran personally and though some may be too young to fully understand the sacrifices made by our guests of honor, being a part of this celebration was truly a pleasure and a privilege. The celebration continued with a photo and breakfast for the veterans.
