SAN BERNARDINO—The Our Lady of the Assumption School cheerleaders attended their first competition on January 30th. Dressed in the school colors of blue and gold, 14 girls in the 5th through 8th grade made up the small but dynamic team whose determination and team spirit had the judges and the crowd cheering.

PERRIS—What happens when you have surgery, and you can’t make it to school for an extended length of time? 

 Vincent Alvarez, a student in my fourth grade class at St. James School, is finding out!  Each day, Vincent tunes in, via computer, to participate in Math class.  He asks questions, shares answers, views board work, and collaborates with his classmates. 

Notre Dame High School wins first football championship in 38 years with a victory over Temecula Linfield Christian

 They were playing on their opponent’s home field. 

 Their top running back was battling a knee injury.

ONTARIO—The Office of Catholic Schools presented awards at it 16th annual banquet held Feb. 6 at the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario. Below is a summary of awards and recipients.

 The Bishops of California have issued a lengthy statement in support of Catholic education to coincide with Catholic School Week, which runs from Jan. 31 – Feb. 6.

RIVERSIDE—Notre Dame High School will celebrate her Diamond Jubilee on January 31st at the Riverside Convention Center Raincross Ballroom.

 Community members, school leadership, parents, students, alumni and some very special guests will gather to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Notre Dame’s founding.
