Father Antonio (Tony) Das Neves, a retired priest of the Diocese, passed away on March 7 at the age of 85. Fr. Das Neves had recently been hospitalized with COVID-19 in his native Portugal, where he had retired.
Fr. Das Neves was ordained in 1961 and served in various parishes in the Diocese of San Diego and the Diocese of San Bernardino. He is survived by a nephew and other family members in Portugal.
His funeral Mass took place in Portugal on March 9, and there was also a Memorial Mass on March 21 at St. Vincent Ferrer, Menifee, where Fr. Das Neves served as Pastor for many years. Fr. Das Neves also served as Pastor at St. Joan of Arc, Blythe; St. Mel, Norco; and Christ the Good Shepherd, Adelanto.
