Monaghan entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Providence on September 12, 1963 and was given the name Sister John Michele. She professed final vows on August 15, 1969.
Of her 49 years as a Sister of Providence, she ministered for 31 years in administrative positions both in Indiana and California. She served at St. Francis Cabrini Parish, Crestline from 1969-1977.
She is survived by nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by two brothers, Edward F. and Raymond J. Monaghan.
Wake service and Mass of Christian Burial was on February 20 and 21 at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana. Burial was at the Cemetery of the Sisters of Providence, St. Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana.
