 Pray for me! Very often in the Christian life you will hear those three simple, but very profound words uttered. A request for prayer can come in many forms. Someone may ask for himself, herself or another person.

 It is with great joy that I begin this new adventure in my priestly ministry. As a contributor to our Diocesan publication it is my hope to provide informative and inspirational articles that help you and me to give joyful witness in our lives. As this adventure begins I first wish to offer an introduction of myself. My name is Father Erik Esparza. I was ordained for the Diocese of San Bernardino on May 31, 2008 at the parish of St. Paul the Apostle in Chino Hills. I grew up in the High Desert community of Hesperia. My seminary studies included time at Serra House of Formation, back when it was still in Riverside; St. John Seminary College in Camarillo, CA and Assumption Seminary in San Antonio, TX.

 It is a great temptation for many to believe that forgiveness means to forget an offense or even worse to accept a wrongdoing. 

 If forgiveness had to do with the acceptance of a wrong then we would be saying God is accepting of sin. Psalm 5 denies God’s acceptance of sin, “You are not a god who delights in evil; no wicked person finds refuge with you.”
