A Catholic high school education has been made financially easier for three ninth graders who were named 2015 Bishop’s Scholars, Bishop Gerald Barnes announced in August. 

 After a lengthy competitive application process and rigorous review, Bishop Barnes selected Brian Pham from Our Lady of Perpetual Help School in Indio. He will attend Xavier College Preparatory High School in Palm Desert.

SAN BERNARDINO—Ever since grade school Raymond Deang has had an interest in serving and accompanying others. A natural leader and role model, Deang served as a guide to his younger siblings, classmates at school and hundreds of youth at the parishes where he has served. 

 As the new director of the Diocesan Ministry with Youth Office, he now has the opportunity to continue impacting the lives of teenagers.

 Parishes throughout the Diocese answer that question by organizing Vacation Bible School. 

 St. Joseph Parish, Fontana has been organizing Vacation Bible School for 15 years. Hope Baluyot, coordinator of Vacation Bible School at St. Joseph, first brought the summer program to the parish as a way of providing a positive summer activity for her children.
