With the closing of schools across the state and nation to prevent the spread of COVID-19, virtual learning has gone from an aspirational idea to the only game in town.

Beginning in mid- March, Catholic schools in the Diocese began closing their campuses as their corresponding public school districts did the same. On Apr. 2 Superintendent of Catholic Schools Sam Torres announced, in step with the directive from the State of California, that Catholic school campuses in the Diocese would be closed for the remainder of the academic year.

Ontario—Students from Sacred Heart School, Rancho Cucamonga and St. Joseph School, Upland secured top honors at the first annual Inland Empire VEX IQ Robotics Middle School League Championshipthat was held at St. George School in Ontario.

LA QUINTA—The 18th annual Bishop’s Golf Classic took place on December 5th at PGA West in La Quinta. About 200 golfers and 45 volunteers enjoyed beautiful weather as they played on two of the nations premier golf courses. This tournament supports the efforts of the Catholic Education Foundation.

RIVERSIDE—St. Francis de Sales School got a surprise package from its most famous alum this year, care of the Archdiocese of San Francisco, on the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

SAN BERNARDINO—The Aquinas High School football program continues to cement its status as a football powerhouse, after capping the season one victory away from a state championship.
