The Conferral Ceremony took place at Our Lady’s Chapel on the campus of Assumption Seminary in San Antonio. In presiding over the Mass and Conferral, Bishop Barnes represented the Bishops of the Archdiocese of San Antonio, and the Dioceses of El Paso, Fort Worth, Laredo as well as San Bernardino.
Installed to the Ministry of Lector were seminarians Thomas Davis, Alfredo Ledesma and Jesus Ornelas. The Ministry of Lector is a step towards Holy Orders. The lector is instituted to proclaim the readings from Sacred Scripture, with the exception of the Gospel. He may also announce the intentions for the Universal Prayer and recite the Psalm between the readings.
Installed to the Ministry of Acolyte were seminarians Rafael Flores, Jonathan Garcia, Julian Plasencia Gomez and Bryant Rivas. Acolytes assist in liturgical celebrations. They will light candles and carry them in procession and during the Gospel, prepare the wine and water for the sacrifice of the Mass, and participate in distributing Holy Communion.
