sanchez-dcn-luisSAN BERNARDINO—Bishop Alberto Rojas has appointed Deacon Luis Sanchez as Director of the Office for Deacons.

 Deacon Ed Clark had served as the Director of the Diaconate Formation Office which was eliminated upon his retirement.

 For the past eight years, Deacon Sanchez served as the Coordinator of Formation, Ministry and Life for Deacons. Before joining the Diocesan Pastoral Center, he spent 29 years with the City of Los Angeles as a planner in the Department of Public Works and the Department of Building and Safety until April 2012.

 He was ordained on December 15, 2007 and has served in three parishes, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Rancho Cucamonga; St. George, Ontario and Our Lady of Lourdes, Montclair where he is currently assigned.

 He and his wife, Rosa, received the Amar es Entregarse Award from Bishop Gerald Barnes for their service to the people of our Diocese and for Deacon Sanchez’s leadership role in Operation Bienvenida through which more than 6,000 individuals were united with family already in the US to await court hearings of their petitions for asylum.
