SAN BERNARDINO—With the COVID-19 virus consuming available hospital beds throughout the region, St. Bernardine Medical Center sought to increase its capacity by converting its Matich Conference Center into a hospital ward.

On January 12, Bishop Alberto Rojas visited the converted conference center to offer a blessing and prayers.  Bishop Rojas included healthcare workers along with future patients in his blessing, stating, “May God guide the hands and minds of the staff and physicians, and may He be with each patient as they receive the best care.”

St. Bernardine Hospital President Doug Kleam said the Bishop’s blessing provided a morale boost.

“During these difficult times, we appreciate the support our community members have shown, and the visit from Bishop Rojas has offered a healing hand to our care team,” said Kleam.
