The annual DDF campaign that provides the financial foundation for key diocesan ministries launches in February under the theme “Walking in Faith, Giving in Love, Rising Anew.”

The specific diocesan ministries that are funded through this year’s DDF campaign are:

1. The Seminarian Education Fund, which pays for educational and living costs of seminarians while they are in formation.

2. Training for lay ministers, which includes the Diocese’s flagship Ministry Formation Institute and the Diocesan Office of Catechetical Ministry.

3. Programs to assist the poor, including Catholic Charities, the Office of Community Services and Outreach Programs and the Office of Restorative Justice.

4. Programs to strengthen family life, including the Office of Ministry with Young Catholics, Campus Ministry, Catholic schools, and the hospital chaplains program.

In a video message announcing the launch of the campaign Bishop Alberto Rojas calls on the faithful of the Diocese to support the campaign. “As a family we are called to participate in the ministries of our Church. We are called to give a sacrificial gift to our Church and to pray as one family. It is through your support for diocesan ministries that you are able give to brothers and sisters most in need of our help.”

In the DDF campaign, each parish is given an individual financial goal to meet, based on its income levels and other socio-economic factors. Any monies raised through the DDF that exceed the parish goal go entirely back to that parish.

The financial impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic led the Diocese to reduce the DDF goal for all parishes by 25 percent for the 2020, 2021 and 2022 campaigns. Still, the parishes were able to meet the overall DDF goal of $3.9 million for the most recent campaign.
