REDLANDS—The Holy Name of Jesus and its parish school, Sacred Heart Academy, were honored in the annual Readers Choice Awards, a recognition bestowed by readers of the San Bernardino Sun and the Redlands Daily Facts newspapers.

The Readers Choice Awards recognizes exceptional places, businesses, people and things to do in San Bernardino County.

The Holy Name of Jesus won “Best Place to Worship,” while Sacred Heart Academy won “Best Catholic School.”

“We’ve been named best place to worship in Redlands before, but this year has a special significance, since worship has had to be reimagined for all faith traditions during this turbulent year in midst of a pandemic,” said Carlo Argoti, Director of Liturgy and Music at The Holy Name of Jesus.

“As Director of Liturgy and Music, I have to admit that I was a bit amused when people started to congratulate me as if the award was bestowed solely upon myself ... [I realize] that nothing is possible without the amazing staff who went above and beyond to engage with the people during a time when we were separated physically for so many months,” said Argoti, who also praised the parish’s priests and volunteers for their dedicated ministry during the pandemic.

“This award belongs to all the people of The Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Community. I am only honored and privileged to serve as their lowly and humble servant,” added Argoti.

Angela Williams, Principal of Sacred Heart Academy, said that her school was “very humbled and honored” to receive the news of the award.

“We are proud to represent all of the excellent Catholic schools in the Diocese and were overwhelmed with the view that our community has regarding our school. I want to thank the parents for recognizing the dedication exhibited by the teachers in educating our students both spiritually and academically,” said Williams.
