The 22-person team of seventh and eighth graders captured first place in the March 7 competition, held at Aquinas High School, on the strength of its win in the Logic Quiz and third place in the Super Quiz. St. Hyacinth students also placed in 7 of the 8 individual competitions, including first place in English.
“The kids are very excited and very motivated,” said St. Hyacinth Principal Tami Jimenez. “They see that their hard work and dedication to study has paid off.”
The Eagles’ victory earned them a berth in the State Academic Decathlon for Catholic Schools on April 18 at Sacred Heart School in Sacramento, where the Eagles will be focused on topping their fifth place finish at last year’s state event.
