St. Hyacinth Academy is offering a weekly art program this year. It began as a weekly class offered to sixth, seventh and eighth graders, and has progressed to the entire school. Students are being exposed to the basic elements of art this year, learning about line and shape and how to develop their artist’s eye as they observe the world around them and God’s beautiful creations.

Art is more than just learning how to make a pretty picture, it helps children develop academically. To that end, the children at Saint Hyacinth Academy are also offered music and drama lessons. Kindergarten Readiness and Kindergarten have weekly music classes; first through fourth graders are offered a “Motion Makers” class learning to sing and move to uplifting Christian songs; fifth through eighth graders are offered the opportunity to participate in Drama Club weekly.

The Fine Arts Night served as a fundraiser to raise funds to purchase art supplies for the school’s art program. Several eighth grade students earned service hours as they sophisticatedly walked around the show offering trays of desserts for donations. It was a fun event for everyone. Saint Hyacinth Academy would like to thank Polly’s Pies for their donation of pies for our event, as well as all of the staff, parents, and students who participated in its success.
