On September 28, the Department of Life, Dignity and Justice will be sponsoring an inaugural Life, Dignity and Justice Conference, running from 8:30 am to 4 p.m.  Workshop presenters will be speaking in areas related to social and economic justice, migrant and refugee challenges, racism, sentencing laws as well as human trafficking.  How can we be faithful and conscientious stewards to care for our “common home?”  We will learn about the challenges of caring for the elderly and the infirm.  What is the pastoral approach to dying and how can we be better prepared to assist our loved ones in end of life decision making?

Keynote speakers at the Conference will be Edward “Ned” Dolesjsi, Executive Director of the California Catholic Conference (“Working the Faith: A response to the call for Faithful Citizenship and Evangelization through Good Works); Dr. Brian Levin, Director of the Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism, Cal State, San Bernardino (“Emerging Trends in Hate and Extremism); Father Chigozie Nnebedum, PhD, ThD (“Authentic Christianity: Being the Salt and Light to the world through Charity and Justice”).

“We are challenged as Christians to be the substance, people that add flavor to God’s world and disperse the darkness of the world,” said Sister Chilee Okoko, Director of the Department of Life, Dignity and Justice.  “This is what it means to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world.”
