SAN BERNARDINO—In the scripture of Elijah and the widow of Zarephath, Elijah asked for a crust of bread from the widow and she responded by saying that she only had enough for her and her son and that it would be their last meal. Then Elijah responded, “Do not be afraid. Go and do as you have said. But first make me a little cake and bring it to me. Afterwards you can prepare something for yourself and your son.” She left and did as Elijah had said. She had enough to eat for a long time—he and she and her household.
It is rooted in the Sacred Scriptures and in the teachings of our Catholic faith to take care of our brothers and sisters in need, even when our own resources may not be plentiful. The people of the Diocese of San Bernardino are living out this spirit of charity, demonstrated by the many donations we have received to the 2020 DDF Annual Appeal. We understand that donating during this economic uncertainty is not easy, but our faith prevails.
We currently have reached 88% of our diocesan goal of the 2020 DDF Annual Appeal. Your generosity has helped us to Serve Families, Strengthen Parishes, Serve the Poor and Care for Our Priests and Seminarians.
We want to thank you for your donation that you have made on behalf of your parish to the 2020 DDF Annual Appeal. We also want to congratulate the 58 parishes that have already reached their goal. Once the parish surpasses its goal, it benefits financially by getting a full refund of the excess over goal. The over goal donations pave the way to enhance the ministries of the parish.
