The Ministry Formation Institute (MFI) has been selected to receive a “Capacity Building Grant” from Leadership Education, an initiative of Duke Divinity School funded by Lilly Endowment Inc., in partnership with Asociación para la Educación Teológica Hispana (AETH). Capacity Building Grants offer Christian institutions resources to strengthen their current organizational capacities and build new ones in a yearlong project.

MFI created a two-pronged project designed to create greater efficiencies in its office, staff, and programs as a part of its grant application. The grant will enable MFI to replace outdated equipment and thereby meet today’s technological demands. The administrative staff will receive specialized training in software programs making them more efficient while expanding their skills. The third aspect of the project is specialized training for some Directors and teachers. Every element of the project was designed to bring expanded capabilities for all the programs offered by MFI.

Maria H. “Maruja” Sedano, Director of MFI, expressed her gratitude to Leadership Education at Duke University for the Capacity Building Grant. Also, she noted that this opportunity was a direct result of the Certification of Continuing Ministry Formation Program by AETH in 2020. She said, “Our involvement with AETH is bearing fruit in ways unexpected.”

The Ministry Formation Institute is grateful to all the people who assisted with the Grant application process.
