The Diocesan Office of Community Services and Outreach Programs and its Global Solidarity Committee organized a Human Trafficking Awareness presentation at the Diocesan Pastoral Center (DPC) on Oct. 19. One of the presenters was Justine Sanchez, San Bernardino County Deputy Sheriff, who spoke with compassion and clarity, sharing her experiences addressing human trafficking within our region. Father Benedict C. Nwachukwu, Director of Academics at St. Junipero Serra House of Formation, shared a theological perspective on the topic. The event concluded with Mass celebrated by Fr. Nwachukwu. “Rev. Benedict’s homily reminded us that faith must act, to be poor with the poor, steadfast in love, and brave in hope,” said Maribel Gale, attendee and Founder of Together and Away Faith Travel & Pilgrimages. “His message called us to live beyond awareness, to be the light that reaches those who cannot yet find their way back,” Gale said.
