Bishop Rojas blesses new St. Charles Borromeo parish hall expansion

BLOOMINGTON—Bishop Alberto Rojas visited St. Charles Borromeo, Bloomington, on June 24 to bless a new addition to their parish hall which includes a commercial kitchen. The project took seven months to complete, and notably, the parish was able to raise enough funds prior to completion to pay for the project in full instead of having to take out a loan. Congratulations to the St. Charles Borromeo parish community on the new kitchen and expanded parish hall!

New pastor installed at Mecca parish

MECCA—Bishop Alberto Rojas visited the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Mecca, on July 15 to install Father Rocendo Herrera, ST, as Pastor. The parish community lost its last two pastors to COVID-19, Father Jesús Samuel Palomares Vega, ST, who died in Feb. 2022, and Father Francisco Valdovinos, ST, who died in Jan. 2021. We would like to wish Fr. Herrera and the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Guadalupe parish community well as he begins this new ministry of Pastor.

St. Bernardine receives new carpet and lighting

SAN BERNARDINO—St. Bernardine in San Bernardino, one of the oldest churches in the Diocese, has received a much-needed update with some recent renovations. The old, worn carpet was exchanged for new carpet and the existing lighting was replaced with LED lamps which helped beautify and brighten the church.

The project was organized and funded by diocesan attorney and frequent donor Bill Lemann, with the assistance of Ron Rezek, whose company Rezek Equipment contributed labor, equipment and materials for the lighting portion of the renovations. Congratulations to the parish community of St. Bernardine on your renovated church and thank you to the generous donors who made it happen.
