Saturday, March 23rd was a lovely morning when women from the Inland Empire came together for prayer, fellowship, and brunch wearing their “Tea Hats” to celebrate the Catholic Daughters of the Americas (CDA), Court Our Lady of Peace’s 85th Anniversary. Our Lady of Peace became a court on February 26, 1939. Members consist of women from four different San Bernardino parishes, Our Lady of the Rosary Cathedral, St. Bernardine, Our Lady of Hope and Our Lady of the Assumption.

Our Lady of Peace hosted the monthly CDA Rosary and invited the various courts in the area and parish community to join in prayer and to have some fun by wearing their hats. Some of the courts that attended were Immaculate Conception, Good Shepherd, Our Lady of the Valley, St. Anne, Daughters of St. Joseph the Worker, and Our Lady of LaSalette.

As the ladies gathered in the parish hall at Our Lady of the Rosary, Father Alex Gamino gave a blessing and shared his appreciation of the work CDA has provided to their parishes and community. National Regent Emily Guilherme presented Our Lady of Peace Regent Olivia Guerrero a gift of “prayer,” where the court will be remembered in daily Mass for a full year.

The Regents were invited to share their upcoming court events with the group. Confirmation students assisted during the brunch by serving food, and they also helped with set-up and clean-up.
CDA was founded in Utica, New York 1903 by John E. Carberry, and several Knights of Columbus as a charitable and patriotic sorority for Catholic ladies. They are dedicated to the principles of Unity and Charity.
