Abubo, Eguez and Brazfield announced as 2017 Bishop’s Scholars

 Bishop Gerald Barnes has granted a four-year scholarship to one of the Diocese’s Catholic high schools to a trio of eighth graders, he announced May 25.

 Nadyne Abubo of Sacred Heart School, Palm Desert will attend nearby Xavier College Preparatory High School it was announced. Sarina Eguez of St. Edward School in Corona will utilize her Bishop’s Scholarship to attend Notre Dame High School in Riverside next year. Isac Brazfield of Holy Rosary Academy, San Bernardino is the third recipient of the Bishop’s Scholarship and will attend Aquinas High School.

 This Bishop’s Scholarship provides up to four years of tuition support to attend one of the three Catholic high schools in the Diocese. Applicants are asked to describe and discuss their commitment to God, faith, education, family, community and volunteerism and explain why they wish to attend the particular high school they have chosen. In addition to letters of recommendation, certificates of achievement and awards, applicants are expected to create a personal essay and may do so using multi-media, video and the Internet.
