Then the dancing began and the dads showed off their best dance moves. Some of their cool steps were nostalgic in nature and reminded us of those wonderful decades from our past; especially the 50s and 80s. Their “moves” brought smiles to the faces of the young ladies as chuckles and laughter filled the room. After the swinging and swaying and occasional linedance the fathers were given the opportunity to present their daughter(s) with a special memento. The coordinator of the event read a reflection reminding the dads of their role as caregiver and spiritual guide for their daughter.

A special blessing was given by Father Enrique Amezcua as the fathers presented their daughters with a special gift. The night’s activities were wrapped up nicely with a yummy dessert and candy arrangement that was donated by one of the school families and set up by the moms. It was stocked with chocolate covered pretzels, cookies, cupcakes, gummy bears, and many other yummy treats.

Memories were made this evening as the little ones and even some Junior High students joined with their fathers for food, dancing and fun. There was nothing more precious than seeing the daughters leaving Mercy Hall hand-in-hand with their dads, toting their bag of treats and wearing a huge grin on their face!
