We are ending a year that for sure brought opportunities, graces and difficulties.
For me, 2015 began with my grandson, Ayden, in the hospital for 15 days. This was a time of uncertainty as the diagnosis was not clear; a time of prayer and supplication to the Lord, followed by a time of happiness and thanksgiving for his coming home and his recovery.

On June 18 the new encyclical from Pope Francis was released. Laudato Si which literally means “Be praised.” In this encyclical Pope Francis addresses the care of our common home “the Earth.” He talks about the risks we need to take to save our human race and our planet. One cannot separate ecology from economies, or economies from ethics, or ethics from politics. “Everything is connected,” Pope Francis writes at several points in the encyclical. He also asks a main question to all of us: What kind of a world do we want to leave to those who come after us, to children who are growing up?

Catechetical formation is an indispensable experience of the Sacraments of Initiation. One of those Sacraments is Confirmation, a sign of witness and mission. This is the sacrament in which the Holy Spirit gives special strength to the recipient with the accompanying obligation to bear witness to the Gospel in word and deed.
