 Our Lenten journey has been fruitful! We had the opportunity to be more intentional in our prayer, almsgiving, works of justice, fasting and living the cardinal virtues. Most of our parishes offered their people the opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Many have both received and offered forgiveness.

 This year our Lenten journey begins on February 18th with the celebration of Ash Wednesday. Lent is a liturgical time of preparation for the Paschal or Easter Triduum, which begins with the Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday, continuing with the Good Friday service and Holy Saturday, and concluding with vespers (evening prayer) on the Easter Vigil.

 As I got ready to take my early morning weekend walk, I thought of reading my daily reflection for Lent before leaving the house to have some food for thought. But then I decided to allow the Holy Spirit to speak to me without me having an agenda and so I left the house ready to hear the Lord. The wind was blowing and chilly.
