SAN BERNARDINO—Four Diocesan Offices moved down the street to occupy the third level of the newly renovated Rezek Centre in January. The diocesan Office of Mission, Office of Mission Advancement, Office of Catholic Cemeteries and Catholic Mutual satellite office make up the pastoral center extension.
“This brings the diocesan presence out to the community,” said Sister Sara Kane, CSJ, Chancellor of the diocese. “It is an opportunity for us to really serve the public in another way and will be a tremendous gift to see the collaboration and partnership taking place with St. Bernardine and the Rezek Centre.”

Auxiliary Bishop Rutilio del Riego represented the Diocese of San Bernardino at the 10th Annual 2014 West Coast Walk for Life in San Francisco on Jan. 25. The event marked the 41st Anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court ruling that legalized abortion in the United States. Bishop del Riego also walked on behalf of the Diocesan Gabriel Project, which supports the Natural Family Planning and Post Abortion Healing programs of the Office of Pro Life Catholic Ministries.
SAN BERNARDINO—In his annual address to the faithful of the diocese, Bishop Gerald Barnes summarized the report sent to the Holy See in preparation for the Extraordinary Synod of Bishops on Family and Marriage, while also calling the Diocese to reflect and improve on certain areas of parish life.
FONTANA—“Ultrasound technology opens a window into the womb and dramatically shows the humanity of the unborn, even to the doubting eyes of those who may not have previously shared our regard for the Sanctity of Human Life,” wrote Supreme Knight of Columbus Carl Anderson in awarding $12,000 toward the purchase of an ultrasound machine for the recently established Assure Pregnancy Clinic in Fontana.
