In November students at Our Lady of Perpetual Help School in Riverside had the opportunity to express their creativity in a regional art contest and their own annual parade. First, OLPH fifth grader Ryan Haynes participated in the Riverside Medical Clinic’s “Rooted in Resilience” art contest. The art contest’s prompt was “Give your feelings a face, a color, or a shape, show us what emotions look like to you,” and was open to all Inland Empire students aged 5-18 years old. Ryan won 4th place and his artwork will be featured as the cover art for the Foundation’s Kindness & Gratitude cards. Secondly, the OLPH hosted its second annual “Balloons over Broadway” parade on Nov. 20. The parade is patterned after the famous “Macy’s Thanksgiving Day” parade. Third, fourth and fifth graders used their imagination and turned ordinary balloons into extraordinary masterpieces, filling the sky with color, creativity, and lots of smiles! The parade was attended by students, families and friends.
