To close out the month of January, students, teachers and families participated in the National Catholic Schools Week (CSW). From January 25-31 this year, the Catholic schools of the diocese celebrated special Masses, assemblies, open houses, events and other activities to highlight and celebrate the extraordinary gift of Catholic education. Our Lady of the Assumption School, San Bernardino, (LEFT) students assembled to form a red, white, and blue shaped heart to honor the nation. St. Theresa School, Palm Springs, (TOP LEFT) students, teachers and staff began CSW by celebrating a Mass. St. Joseph, Upland, (BOTTOM LEFT) students celebrated their community by thanking their local police officers. This year’s CSW theme is “Catholic Schools: United in Faith and Community.” Catholic Schools Week culminated with the annual Diocesan Catholic School Awards on Jan. 31 at The Holy Name of Jesus Church, Redlands (Olive Location), where the Diocesan Office of Catholic Schools honored Catholic school teachers, staff, alumni and volunteers for their outstanding work. St. Jeanne de Lestonnac School, Temecula, (TOP MIDDLE) celebrated its students on one day, highlighting their creativity, compassion, and faith. St. James School, Perris (TOP RIGHT) and St. Thomas the Apostle School, Riverside, (BOTTOM MIDDLE) students took time during CSW to celebrate their grandparents with a special Mass. St. Edward, Corona, (BOTTOM RIGHT) highlighted its VEX IQ Robotics teams for advancing to the finals of a tournament. Notre Dame High School, Riverside, (FAR RIGHT) began CSW by gathering in prayer with Bishop Emeritus Gerald Barnes for Mass.
