RIVERSIDE—Around 130 youth gathered to celebrate and share their cultures at the 6th Annual Asian-Pacific Youth Day held Oct. 27 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Riverside. Themed “Roots before Branches,” the youth day offered talks, skits, music, activities, prayer and faith sharing.
RIVERSIDE—The California Association of School Counselors (CASC) has given an award to Notre Dame High School Principal Matt Luttringer for his dogged support of counseling programs, even in difficult budgetary times.
PERRIS—Yumara Aguilar, a sixth grade student at St. James Catholic School recently traveled to Mexico to participate in a karate tournament and captured first place in Sparring and in her Form Routine.
SAN BERNARDINO—A new elective but a not so new concept has become the latest discussion at Aquinas High School.
SAN JACINTO—The St. Hyacinth Academy Folklorico Mexican Dance Group delighted attendees of the San Jacinto State of the City Dinner held Oct. 26 at Soboba Country Club. In addition to a speech from San Jacinto Mayor (and St. Hyacinth alumn) Andrew Kotyuk, the evening consisted of recognition and acknowledgement to businesses, schools, teachers, and students, as well as discussion and sharing ideas about the future direction of the City.
