 As human beings we are in search of happiness. Some of us find satisfaction in school, work, or a hobby. However, many times at the end of the day, we feel that something is missing – and that feeling can be reason to be living with indifference.

RIVERSIDE—The land beneath the cross that sits at the top of Mt. Rubidoux in Riverside, named in honor of Father Junipero Serra, will be put up for auction by the City of Riverside, as a result of a January 22 vote of the Riverside City Council.

SAN BERNARDINO—After being presented with a document that summarizes principals the state of Utah has established to guide its immigration discussion, Sister Sarah Shrewsbury felt compelled to bring it to the diocese. 

 As a result the diocese has developed an Immigration Compact to affirm its commitment to being a welcoming faith community and is embarking on a one-year campaign to promote the compact’s message.

YUCAIPA—For many Pro Life ministers January is a significant month because the third week marks the anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to make abortion legal at any stage of pregnancy.

 This year is the 40th Anniversary of the Roe vs. Wade decision and the Diocese of San Bernardino took the occasion to celebrate a Mass of Thanksgiving for the Gift of Life at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Church in Yucaipa on January 19.

Diocese marks 10-year journey in child protection

SAN BERNARDINO—Those two words have characterized the experience of the Diocese of San Bernardino in its emerging ministry of child and youth protection over the past decade.

 The diocese took two days, January 16 and 17, to look back at the journey, which began with the priest sex abuse scandal that came to public prominence in 2002. The priests of the diocese gathered at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini, Yucaipa for the presentation on Jan. 16 while parish and diocesan lay ministers heard it at the Diocesan Pastoral Center the following day.
