Since joining the Boy Scout program at St.Thomas the Apostle Church as a second grader, Enrique Martinez has grown into a model of faith, perseverance, and community spirit. Now a senior in high school, Enrique recently achieved a remarkable milestone by completing his Eagle Scout project—the creation of a Walking Stations of the Cross on the Riverside parish’s grounds.
Over the years, Enrique has been a familiar face at parish events. Whether helping to pick up trash after the annual fiestas, lighting the fire for the Easter Vigil, or bussing tables during the parish fish fry, his dedication has left a lasting impression on everyone who knows him.
In addition to his Scouting accomplishments, Enrique was recently inducted into the National Honor Society, a recognition of his academic excellence, leadership, and commitment to service.
Enrique credits much of his growth to the guidance he has received through the church community. He especially thanks Father Theodore Drennon, parish pastor, for supporting him throughout his spiritual and Scouting journey.
Enrique’s involvement in the Scouting program has provided him with a strong foundation both academically and spiritually.
Living with Down syndrome has never held Enrique back. Instead, he has embraced every opportunity to grow in service and faith.
