“Come as you are to this wonderful celebration of youth and faith with Bishop Barnes,” said Kathy Cho, director of the Ministry with Youth Office.

The youth day will serve as a closing event for the Year for Youth declared last July by Bishop Gerald Barnes and welcomes youth to continue their faith journey with the celebration of the Year of Faith proclaimed by Pope Benedict XVI, which will begin in October.

Activities for the overnight event include praise and worship music, a Late Night Jammies Concert, dance performances, faith sharing, skits, speakers and Mass with Bishop Barnes. Some of the elements and activities from Asian-Pacific Youth Day, Pastoral Juvenil Youth Day, World Youth Day and Virtual World Youth Day will be utilized in the Diocesan Youth Day event.

“We wanted to incorporate some of the elements from our other youth days to give youth a chance to relive their fondest memories or to see what they have been missing,” said Anna Hamilton, programs coordinator for the Ministry with Youth Office.

Registration fee for the Diocesan Youth Day is $40 per person.  Cost includes 2 meals.  For groups of 10 and more, registration is $30 per person. One chaperone is free for every 10 youth registered.  On-site registration will be $50 per person. Deadline for registrations is July 13.
