PALM DESERT—Music, Eucharistic adoration and spirited talks enlivened the almost 300 youth present at the inaugural San Bernardino Diocesan Youth Day held Aug. 3 and 4 at Xavier College Preparatory High School in Palm Desert.
Sponsored by the Ministry with Youth Office, the youth day served as a closing event for the Year for Youth that was proclaimed by Bishop Gerald Barnes last August.
SAN BERNARDINO—Close to 560 youth and young adults, forming 52 teams and representing 24 parishes, gave it their all for bragging rights in the 16th Annual Diocesan Sports Tournament held July 21 at Shandin Hills Middle School in San Bernardino.
SAN BERNARDINO—Aquinas High School welcomed some key physical enhancements to the campus, an increase in enrollment and a surge in foreign exchange students at the start of the new school year.
SAN JACINTO—In a proclamation presented July 17, the San Jacinto City Council recognized August as a month to celebrate St. Hyacinth, the namesake of the city.
RIVERSIDE—In May, Katelyn Allende, a parishioner at St. Catherine of Alexandria, was recognized as one of the Riverside’s 25 ‘most remarkable teens’ for demonstrated leadership ‘in the classroom and beyond’ by the mayor and City Council.
