CORONA—Long time parishioners and new families celebrated the 40th Anniversary of St. Matthew Parish’s founding with a two-day festival held Sept. 14-15 at the Corona parish. 

 Parish ministries rallied to tie the annual Summer Festival the parish holds to the anniversary.

Our Lady of Guadalupe Sanctuary parishioners, supporters and friends gathered to celebrate a groundbreaking ceremony for a new permanent church at the Mecca parish Sept. 21. The new church, which will seat 1,100, will replace the sprung building that was erected at the Mecca parish in 2008.

WILDOMAR—Parishioners at St. Frances of Rome in Wildomar are doing what they can to increase vocations through prayer. With the assistance of the Missionary Sisters of Mary, the parish welcomed the Vocations Cross program that encourages families to pray for and encourage vocations. 

 The Vocations Cross program came to the parish in 2009 after diocesan Vocations Director Sister Sarah Shrewsbury, O.S.C. came to talk to the parish. Sr. Shrewsbury presented the parish with two crosses that were created by seminarians to be used for the program.

Auxiliary Bishop Rutilio del Riego celebrated Mass at St. Margaret Mary Parish in Chino on Sept. 8 to dedicate a new marble altar what was donated for the parish church.

RANCHO CUCAMONGA—Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rancho Cucamonga had its Parish Feast Day on June 8 in celebration of the Feast of Sacred Heart. Father Benedict Nwachukwu-Udaku, pastor of the parish, along with the Festival Committee members and ministries offered a fun, community-inviting and graceful multicultural festival. Father Edward Molumby opened our day with a prayer, invoking the presence of the Holy Spirit.

SAN BERNARDINO—Wishing to bring the Gospel message to the masses, the parish community of St. George in Fontana sponsored a day of evangelization May 4 at the National Orange Show Events Center in San Bernardino.

 Presented in Spanish and offering talks, music and prayer, more than 2,500 participated in the day-long event. Several priests were available for the Sacrament of Reconciliation throughout the day.
