St. Mary Magdalene, Corona celebrates 25th anniversary

CORONA—Members of St. Mary Magdalene Parish, Corona filled the church beyond its capacity to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the parish’s founding on Oct. 18.
Founding members and leaders throughout the parish’s history came to mark the special occasion. In his homily, Bishop Gerald Barnes applauded the community for its strong bonds and invited them to continue working to impact the surrounding community through the good works of the parish community.
St. Joseph Parish to host blessing of liturgical musicians

UPLAND—St. Joseph Parish, Upland will host its first blessing of liturgical musicians on the eve of the feast of St. Cecilia, Nov. 21. The blessing will take place at the 7 p.m. Mass which will celebrate St. Cecilia.
Carlo Argotti, director of music at the parish, hopes musicians from all over the diocese will participate.
St. Christopher parishioners gather again for priest appreciation dinner

MORENO VALLEY—“This month is for being thankful. This is an opportunity for us to express gratitude for our priests, break-in the Christmas spirit and a way to show thanks.”
With these thoughts, Jim Velarde of the 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus from the Arrowhead Desert Valley Chapter, council number 8728, kicked off the Second Annual Priest Appreciation Dinner at St. Christopher Parish, Moreno Valley on Nov. 29.
Chino Hills parish to bid farewell to founding religious order
CHINO HILLS—The Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary (SS.CC) will end its leadership of St. Paul the Apostle parish in Chino Hills after 28 years, effective January 2015.
When the parish was established in 1986, then diocesan Bishop Phillip Straling asked the SS.CCs to assume its pastoral care. The Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary are, in fact, the first religious order ever to minister in the Diocese of San Bernardino, going all the way back to San Salvador parish in Colton in the 1840s.
Crestline parish launches Spanish Mass

CRESTLINE—Consuelo Calderon moved to Crestline three years ago from Florida. She has been taking English classes and has made it her personal goal to be able to be a reader at the English Mass.
