Diocese raises over $130,000 for Nepal earthquake victims

Thank you for your generous and life giving gifts to the victims of the earthquakes in Nepal. Together the parishes have raised $134,130.34. The funds are sent to Catholic Relief Services which are presently in Nepal aiding in the relief efforts and ministering to our suffering brothers and sisters who have lost so much.
Diocese honors service at annual Awards Ceremony
SAN BERNARDINO—More than 50 individuals were recognized for their service to the Church and community at the annual Diocesan Awards ceremony held on May 20, the Feast of St. Bernardine, patron of the Diocese. Honorees were awarded the St. Bernardine Award, Our Lady of Guadalupe Award and the St. John Paul II Youth Award.

BIG BEAR LAKE—The Sacred Heart Retreat Camp in Big Bear Lake hosted “Rejoice Day,” a gathering for men and women religious serving in the diocese on May 11. The day included Mass, lunch and time for fellowship and recreation.
Sr. Covani, longtime Worship Office Director, heads for retirement

SAN BERNARDINO—It was supposed to be a three-year stint at the helm of the fledgling Diocesan Office of Worship for Sister Marilu Covani, SP.
That was her agreement with Bishop Gerald Barnes, who had called her, personally, to recruit her to San Bernardino. But it turned into a 17-year ministry, as Sr. Covani will be retiring this summer as Director of the Office of Worship for the Diocese.
