VICTORVILLE—On a day when tens of thousands of Americans took to the streets to protest President Donald Trump’s immigration policy at the nation’s southern border, Catholic faithful from the Diocese took part in a demonstration just outside a federal detention center in Victorville that is now being used to house those suspected of being in the country without documentation.

 On August 25, Bishop Barnes will ordain 11 men to the Permanent Diaconate. Before taking the final step in their journey to Ordination, the men reflect on their calling and the important role their wives played in the process. 

 The statue of the Immaculate Heart of Mary will be touring the Diocese this August.

 It was blessed at the Vatican by His Holiness Pope Francis on October 23, 2013, 10 days after he consecrated the world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on October 13.

SAN JACINTO—In his first Apostolic Exhortation “The Joy of the Gospel,” Pope Francis encourages the institutional Church to go out to the peripheries to encounter people and to bring them back into the fold of the Church. In his Apostolic Exhortation “The Joy of Love” Pope Francis devotes a large section to caring for the divorced and remarried, people who often see themselves on the periphery of Church life.

 With the departure of Father Javier Gonzales-Cabrera for a three-year educational sabbatical in Rome, the Diocese is adopting a new structure to carry out its ministry of vocations.

It is within the mission of the Ministry with Young Catholics to provide opportunities for young people to discover their God given potential and use their gifts and talents to build the kingdom of God in their communities.
